What is multi-factor authentication (MFA), and how do I set it up?

Multi-Factor Authentication | Security | Verification Code

Written by Darla

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Even if someone gets your password, they can't log in without a one-time code that only you can get.

You'll set up MFA when you create your account. You can choose a text message or the Google Authenticator app.

Which Option Should I Choose?

  • Text message: The simplest option. We'll text a code to your phone each time you need one.

  • Google Authenticator: An app that creates codes on your phone, even without cell service.

How to Set Up Text Message Codes

  1. Select Text Message (SMS) when asked to set up MFA.

  2. Enter your phone number.

  3. Enter the code we text you.

How to Set Up Google Authenticator

  1. Select Google Authenticator when asked to set up MFA.

  2. Download the Google Authenticator app on your phone.

  3. In Google Authenticator, tap Scan a QR code.

  4. Scan the QR code shown in the SimpleTherapy app.

  5. Enter the code from Google Authenticator into the SimpleTherapy app.

Didn't Get Your Code?

  • Make sure you entered the right phone number

  • Check that your phone has service

  • Request a new code

Need to Reset Your MFA?

Call our Care Team at 800-644-2478 if you:

  • Got a new phone or changed your number

  • Want to switch between text message and Google Authenticator

To confirm it's you, we'll ask for your:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Date of birth

  • Address

Once your MFA is reset, you'll set it up again the next time you log in and can choose either option.
